The main objective is to provide all engineers involved in process safety using-defining-designing-maintaining and operating safety instrumented systems the opportunity to learn the 29 specific items that a SIS-Safety Instrumented System SHALL include and describe as applicable according to the normative requirements (10.3.2 – IEC61511:2016 part 1)

 A second objective is for all those engineers programming a safety PLC program, to learn what a AP-Application Program SRS SHALL be considered to describe with another 18 specific items according to the normative requirements (10.3.5 – IEC61511:2016 part 1)

Course objectives

The main objective is to provide all engineers involved in process safety using-defining-designing-maintaining and operating safety instrumented systems the opportunity to learn the 29 specific items that a SIS-Safety Instrumented System SHALL include and describe as applicable according to the normative requirements (10.3.2 – IEC61511:2016 part 1)

A second objective is for all those engineers programming a safety PLC program, to learn what a AP-Application Program SRS SHALL be considered to describe with another 18 specific items according to the normative requirements (10.3.5 – IEC61511:2016 part 1)

What YOU will learn:

  • Functional Safety Standards Milestones including IEC61511:2016 part 1 corrigendum (Sep 2016) and amendment 1 (Aug 2017)
  • IEC61511 Ed. 2.0 short overview using the lifecycle model with emphasis what has changed and what you SHALL do in able to comply
  • SIS Safety Requirements Specifications changes compared to the IEC61511:2004 edition 1.0
  • Summarised overview of 29 items a SIF-Safety Instrumented Function shall describe that can be divided in general section and SIF specific section:
  • General items, such as but not limited to:

    • Type of process application (continuous or batch) - Type of general hazards and their potential to harm people, environment and capital investment - Process or facilities in the neighbourhood - Environmental conditions can influence the SIS equipment - Standards, codes and local legislation that are applicable - Required plant life time for the SIF - Etc.

    SIF specific items, such as but not limited to:

    • Hazard description this SIF is trying to prevent – SIF functional description – List of I/O with the functional relation between – Required RRF – Maximum allowable spurious trip rate – Safe process state for each SIF – Manual shutdown, start-up, restart, reset functionality - Bypass requirements and compensating measures - Proof test interval, implementation, coverage - Lo-demand, hi-demand or continuous mode – Etc.
  • Summarised overview of 18 items a AP-Application Program SRS shall consider to
  • Conformance requirements to the IEC61511-1:2016

  • Registration is valid only upon receipt of registration form and full payment at least 4 weeks before the course starts or at the time of booking after this time.
